BOXING DAY SALES HAUL

I generally have mixed feelings about the boxing day sales - on one hand I'm a tight arse and I absolutely love a bargain, on the other hand, the feeding frenzy that happens in Topshop for example - terrifies me. I'm typically British and as such I have a rather large personal space bubble which is often aggressively 'popped' during the sales and I haven't got the grit for it. Hats off to you girls that ride it out and get those bargains!

So this year, I braved it. Me and George got up at 7am Boxing Day - which is a mammoth challenge in itself after Christmas Day - and left for Chester. It was surprisingly quiet, well quiet for Boxing Day. The longest wait we had was in LUSH which was a half hour queue. I thought I'd show you guys what I got! It's not a lot and as you can see it's mainly beauty related, not all sales items. I also included the two items bought online, there are some great deals to be had online this year!

First off we dropped into some clothes stores, I didn't really see very many things I liked I did however pick up these boots from River Island they were reduced from £50.00 to £25.00 and it's almost become a tradition that I buy black boots on Boxing Day. They are super comfy to wear I'd happily wear them all day shopping, especially once they've been worn in. I also grabbed the checkered shirt from the River Island men's section, I love oversize shirts for throwing on over ripped jeans and I've been looking for a soft red one for a while now - and it was only £12.00 which is a steal.

Then I ran into boots and picked up this set from Origins - originally for £30.00 this gift set contains 3 of their masks; Out of Trouble® 75ml, Clear Improvement® 75ml and Drink Up® 75ml. I've been so excited to try Drink Up after hearing Claire Marshall talk about it in one of her videos so super excited to pick this up. Anyway, the whole set was £19.99 which is crazy really considering the full size 100ml retail for £23.00 each. I'm kicking myself for not getting another set! I've looked online and can't find this set anywhere or I'd have shared it with you guys. Try your local Boots store you might be in luck!

I didn't pick up any sale items in Space NK as the store I went into didn't really have much on offer - although their website seems to have some good deals. I got the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream which I've been wanting to try out for a while now, it'll serve me well especially now the winter weather has kicked in here in the UK. I also got a  NARS eyeliner pencil in Black Moon the finish looks lovely and velvety on the skin and I haven't had a decent kohl in my life for a while now.

I couldn't resist going into Lush - although when we got there all but 3 of the Christmas gift boxes were gone so we weren't left with much choice! We got the Celebrate box which contains Red Fun, Honey I Washed the Kids soap, Ocean Salt, African Paradise Body Conditioner and a mini Peace massage bar. The original price was £23.50 and it was half off so that was a great buy. I also grabbed No Drought dry shampoo, So White shower gel, a bar of Yule Log soap and a Northern Lights bath bomb.

Lastly, on Boxing Day we stopped off in The Cosmetic Company outlet store - if you haven't heard of it it's a discounted cosmetics store that sells brands such as Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Kiehl's etc at discount prices, if you can find one local to you they are great to check in on now and again as they switch up stock all the time. They do have an online store here so you could check that out. Anyway, I got the new Ojon Rare Blend Tamer Wand which I've been dying to try out, I got it for £9.00 instead of the £12.50 retail price. Having not satisfied the shopping demons within me, I jumped on the iPhone and purchased some Real Techniques brushes because I am incredibly slow to this bandwagon but at least I got them for a steal of £16.99 from allbeauty.com - they've sold out of the Core Collection but have a few other brushes left including the Starter Set for £16.99 with free postage. Lastly, I finally got my hands on the cult favourite Alpha-H Liquid Gold, and I am so pleased with my bargain find of £19.99 down from £31.50. I got it from mankind.com which is actually a male grooming site, I bought George some Jack Black from this site for Christmas, but they stock Aesop, Alpha-H etc so it's worth checking out.

So that's it, damages done, coin purse emptied. I'm quite pleased with my finds this year! Let me know if you've come across any great deals, I'm incredibly nosy and will thoroughly enjoy seeing what you've bought!

WHAT I GOT FOR CHRISTMAS

This Christmas was our ('our' being mine and George's) first Christmas together in our new home, so it was a special one. As it was our first, I insisted we had to have a real tree, stockings, advent calenders - the works. I love Christmas, always have always will. It's a great excuse to spoil everyone I love and consequently I always get spoilt in return and this year was no different. I always feel very blessed Christmas morning.

Here's a selection of what I got this Christmas, George was very good and paid good attention to my hints. As subtle as they always are - (sending links via iMessage). At the top of my list, in joint postition, was GlamGlow and Aesop. I certainly didn't expect to receive both. The 2 books I really wanted this Christmas was Pretty Honest by Sali Hughes and How to be Parisian - so pleased to have the both to read I've read such awesome reviews so can't wait to get started. There always seems to be LUSH presents under the tree and this year was no exception, with both me and George swearing that 'nope not this year, I promise I haven't got you anything from LUSH!' but low and behold we lied to each other but that's a great white lie, I think. I've wanted to try ultrabland for a while now just never remembered that that was the case when I was in LUSH stores. The Stable Hands hand cream was actually something we came across together when shopping in Chester a few weeks before Christmas and being an ex-horse owner I loved the packaging and I always need hand cream for work so George picked it up for me. The This Works cracker, which contains deep sleep body therapy, was a nice surprise and it's nice to try out the smaller sizes before committing to the full sized product.

So that's it, Christmas over. Time to pack up the tinsel and take down the tree because the sales have started! I've already been bad..

I hope you all had a great Christmas, I'd love to here what you guys got this year!

A HOLIDAY WISHLIST

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

Christmas is only 8 sleeps away and I'm becoming very excitable - all of the Mr's presents are wrapped and under the tree, our puppy Cash has a little stocking hanging over the fireplace with a few Christmassy toys and treats and the house is feeling festive. So, feeling that Christmas spirit, I've put together a 'Holiday Wishlist' far too late in the day for anyone to act upon so really this may double up as a Boxing Day sale shopping list..

Share with me your holiday wishlist if you have one!

MY FAVOURITE PERFUME - MOLECULE 01

I am a massive lover of perfume, I think it stems from when I was young and my Mum's favourite perfume was Chanel No5. She used to keep the bottle right at the top shelf of the bathroom cabinet - out of my reach - I used to watch her spray it on herself and she'd treat me to the occasional spritz. I think I've always loved the notion of perfume since then and I've enjoyed collecting and testing perfume ever since. Just FYI I'm pretty sure my first ever "perfume" - and I use that phrase loosely here - was Charlie Red, does anyone remember that? It was like £5.00 from Superdrug, I imagine they still sell it, it was HUGE in my school back in '2K3' and I'd always keep a bottle in my school bag and spray it far too many times a day. I'm pretty sure, reflecting back, that it smelled like cat piss but there we go. I thought I was a goddess when I wore it and I guess that's the point - who cares if others think you smell like a drunken-tramp if you feel like a rock star.

Anyway, I first heard of this when reading Ruth Crilly's blog, A Model Recommends. Her almost hesitance to share her 'secret' perfume just made me instantly jump on to Cult Beauty to purchase my own Molecule 01. The idea behind Molecule 01 may sound a bit 'gimmicky' but bear with me - it's made up of one molecule (hence the name) Iso E Super, the scent of Molecule 01 will blend with your natural pheromones to create a unique scent to the wearer. When I wear this at first smells almost woody and velvety but that scent will fade and reappear throughout the day. If you were unaware of the effect of Molecule 01 you would most likely become disheartened when you are unable to smell it, but believe me - everyone around you can. I get so many compliments when I wear this, more so than any other perfume I own or have owned. The perfume is has a pheromonic effect that people are natural attracted to. Another bonus of this fragrance is that it is unisex so it'd make a great gift for your partner and you wouldn't be able to keep your hands off him/her!

I seriously urge you to try this perfume if you are looking for your staple scent.

Find this at Cult Beauty for £65.50 for 100ml.

L'Oreal Paris Studio Line #TXT Wave Creating Spray

Today, I am wearing my hair down and beachy with the help of L'Oreal Studio Line #TXT Wave Creating Spray. I have personal conflicts with wearing my hair in this style, I love the look of surfer, messy-but-on-purpose hair however I can't stand loads of stickiness/crunchiness texture in my hair - just no thank you, I have habit of running my hands through my hair on a regular basis and trying to look cool while untangling myself from my own head of hair isn't easy. So therefore I am always on the look out for products that promise sexy, textured hair without masses of residue.

L'Oreal promise NON-HEAVY/NON-STICKY waves so I've given it a go, I followed the given instructions on the bottle which were to spray liberally onto posted washed, damp hair then "half dry" with my hair drier - I'm always unsure what half dry means, I'm never sure when my hair is 'half dry' - anyway, I think I took the hair drier off too soon I think almost dry before the next step would be better. Next, I wrapped my hair into a top knot and continued to dry for another 5-10 mins then I got impatient and rushed ahead to step 3 which was to take the knot down and finish drying my hair upside down until dry. I then flipped my hair and 'set it' with a blast of cold air and done.

So yeah the result was great, the product gave my hair a beachy yet workable texture - however, I'm not too convinced that this product would work on you girls with fine/straight hair as my hair is naturally thick with an already slight wave and I think it encouraged rather than created, but I dunno give it a go it is cheap enough to have a punt.

And hey any girls with straight hair who have used this let me know how it worked for you!
