Perhaps it’s nostalgia of my youth, now I’m coming up to 25 years old, that’s made me pick up shoes that I bought 10 years ago when I was 15 and a teen rebel (or at least in my mind I was – somehow looking back, there’s not that much rebellion in sharing a 70cl bottle of orange Bacardi Breezer and running away from a CSO in the park. Emo 4eva 2K6.) Anyway, even though Converses were adopted by youths, like myself, in the early 2000’s they are so timeless for a casual, cool style.  I feel the high tops like these were the staple shoe of the emo era, these have been through a lot with me – including being ‘customised’ in true emokid style with star stickers and skull and crossbones (all of which, thankfully, fell off within a week.) And, even though they give me horrible teen-cringe-worthy flashbacks of razor haircuts and far too much eyeliner - I still really love these shoes.

I just want to mention 2 beauty products I’ve been loving recently, first off being Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream. This is such a god-sended item. I think he made this on the 7th day. I take such explicit joy in rubbing this over my face. The formula is so smooth and ultra-fast absorbing, it helps keep the dry patches of my face moisturized which helps prevent that patchy, flaky skin (sexy) at bay. I use it morning and night and don’t find it too heavy, it’s a great make up base too acting almost like a primer as it smoothes the skin beautifully. Secondly, I’ve been loving a vampy lip recently. It must be something to do with the wintery weather and the fact most of my ‘warm’ clothes are black or grey. Technicolor not needed over here.  Urban Decay’s Revolution Lipstick in Venom is my ‘vampy’ shade of choice, it’s a lovely plum/wine colour with a creamy and shimmery finish (mattes are still forever in my heart - I love you Velvet Teddy.) It is super hydrating and is so comfortable to wear - lovin’ it.

Lastly, a new photography app favourite. I recently downloaded the app Afterlight after seeing examples of the totally gorge filters they have to offer. It’s not a freebie but it’s only 79p and you have options to buy additional filter packs for 79p each – the value for money for the quality is insane. I am a big VSCOcam fan – big up the V-cam – but, I must admit, I prefer Afterlight. They have a great selection of filters, they have the option of adding convincing light leaks and dust filters and the basic editing tools are really, really good. I won’t say too much more as I am planning a ‘How I Edit My Blog Photographs’ post, so look out for that one once I’ve stopped procrastinating.

  1. Bacardi Breezers were the true sign of a rebellion. But I adore the Kiehl's cream!
