I get paid on the 23rd - this happened on the 24th. C'est La Vie. Any of you 90's chicks out there will be - hopefully - Irish dancing around the room with me now after me saying the words "C'est La Vie" instantly took you back to 1998; where you are 8 years old and are pretending that you are the lost fifth member of the smash hit band B*Witched, perfecting your high kicks and Irish accent by repeating the phrase "Some people say I look like me dad." ← (what?...) but getting too tired so you take a "Funny Feet Ice Lolly" break

Anyone?

So, yes, I did done did some shopping. Kielh's firstly; I j'adore (more French, Pas de problème) their Ultra Facial Moisturizer but I have been wearing the version without SPF and since I've started using more chemical exfoliants (see the post about my love for Glycolic Acid here) I need to protect the facial area from the sun so I have added the SPF 30 version to my wardrobe. A few weeks ago, me and Mr Beatnik went to Dublin for his 21st (that's right, I have a toyboy, I'm ballin' over here) and we stayed in The K Club, a golf resort, so while Mr B golfed - I did some serious spa-ing. This included a facial, which involved me getting a slap on the knuckles for not exfoliating around my nose area properly; thus leading to dehydratedness. So I purchased a new facial scrub; Kiehl's Clearly Corrective White Skin Brightening Exfoliator. This contains White Birch, Peony Extract & Ceramides and claims to "improve skin surface texture, illuminate the skin and even skin tone". I really have enjoyed using this so far, every time I use it I get instant satisfaction and results - looking forward to seeing further skin improvements. Kiehl's can do no wrong in my eyes. Big fan.

I was coming to the end of my Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation and I was spending much, much time review reading, researching and window shopping but then I ended up buying this foundation on a complete impulse/whim instead. Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation; this is my first Illamasqua make-up product which is cray-cray because I read nothing but praises all the time about this brand. I use the shade 'Alabaster' in Bobbi Brown foundations (yeah, I am that pale) and the reference guide at Illamasqua suggested a combo of their shades 1 and 2 to match Alabaster - I plumped for shade 2 which has actually turned out to be a touch too pale but I ain't mad because I AM OBSESSED. I have incredibly oily skin in the T-zonal area but here I am sitting 8 hours after application and fully mattified still. A good one for you oily girls, great coverage too. Lastly, this little treat; This Works deep sleep pillow spray this stuff is well renowned around the blogging world and for a very good reason. I have been a log the past week when spraying this before bed, I've had to turn the volume up on my alarm - it's that good. God help me if there's a fire, I am an actual zombie on this.

I'm off now to listen to the complete works of B*Witched on Spotify - sorry not sorry.

The April Music Edit

Oh hey, how you doin'?

I watched A LOT of f.r.i.e.n.d.s this weekend. That's what happens when you have no friends - LOL JKS (maybe..).

It's music time. Here's a playlist of stuff I've been listening to this month including a few artists new to me such as SLK (a London based singer/songwriter not unlike Banks and FKA Twigs, think kinda grimey/a little bit disco/sorta soul/kinda synthpop-y, I'm loving this girls stuff) Portico (another London based band producing electro/ambient offerings, apparently their earlier stuff leans more towards the folk side of things so probably worth checking out. I have been listening to 'Colour Fading' on repeat.) and High Hazels (Clash Music described this band as "Melodic 'The Smiths'" which I nod my head in agreeance with - even though they are an English band, I feel very LA when listening to their stuff.)

I've also included some fave bands of mine The Maccabees, Alt-J, The Vaccines and Palma Violets. The Palma Violets released their first single since 2013 'English Tongue' and if you only listen to one thing from this playlist, make it this. It is insanely catchy.

Please enjoy, share with me any tracks you've been listening to recently that you rate.

For comedic value I almost added 'Smelly Cat' to this playlist - but didn't in the end.

White and Gold Leaf Nails

Hey kids, just thought I'd throw you a quick post today - here it is, you gonna catch it? - just wamted to share the nail look I have been rocking recently.

I picked up L'Oréal Color Riche Nails Topcoat Goldleaf and I am a girl obsessed. The gold leaf nail is so luxe and wearing it unifies my look when I'm wearing a gold watch and a gold necklace. It looks lovely over black but I've been favoring wearing it over Essie Blanc for a clean and minimal look - oh so very spring.

I paint my nails with Essie Blanc - as neatly as I can but usually failing miserably. Most hand-eye coordination tasks are not my forte, apart from rounders, that sh*t was my jam - I then paint the tips of my nails with the L'Oreal Goldleaf Topcoat. The look I'm going for is; I've been diving with Scrooge McDuck in his pool of gold and "dang I've ruined my mani" (this was an actual dream of mine from the other night, if only dreams came true.)

Let me know if you like this look - now cue Peter Griffin diving in Scrooge McDuck's pool of gold GIF.

I've had caffeine today.
