You know the beginning of The Wizard of Oz - where when Dorothy is in Kansas it is all sepia-toned and everyone looks like they are wearing black and white, until she goes over the rainbow and we see her blue and white checkered dress and FAB red shoes? Well, if I were to go over the rainbow it wouldn't make a difference; because I would, more than likely, be wearing black and white.

I've been trying to create a 'minimal wardrobe' - because I'm cool like that - so throwing away anything that was 'trendy' at the time of purchase and replacing with timeless classics that are more my style. I love these tees from Zara as a casual, staple everyday throw on tee. They are insanely soft and hang on the body really nicely - IMO the perfect basic tee. I think they are a bargain for the quality at £17.99 so I will be stocking up on these. I got a small in the black and the white is a medium (they were out of smalls) but both fit really well since they are oversize style anyway. To go with the low v-neck of the tees I really wanted a chain I could drop into them - kind of the look you get with a body chain - so this one from Topshop is perfect you see the shorter layer, the second layer and the third layer drops into the tee. I also picked up these two chokers from Topshop they are pretty cute and simple to layer with the chain, I like the mix of fabric one being suede effect the other leather.

Lastly, I needed a new pair of black skinny jeans and we all know Topshop do the softest jeans. Naturally, I went for a pair with ripped knees - after-all, I base my style on the 'Derelicte' S/S 2001 line by Mugatu. These are the Liegh cut and are super comfy and soft, I think they run small as I am usually a size 8/10 but these are a snug, snug 10.

PS. If you are scratching your head about the Mugatu line then watch Zoolander or Dere-lick my balls.
